Scrum

The Scrum method is a lightweight agile framework that defines three key roles within the organization:

  1. The Product Owner : responsible for managing and prioritizing the backlog, he/she writes the functional specifications.
  2. The Scrum Master : acting as a facilitator, he helps teams to work in the best possible conditions.
  3. The development team: in charge of the technical side of things, this team takes care of the actual implementation of tasks.

There is no hierarchy between these roles, and each acts autonomously and in a complementary way.

Sprint planning: agility and speed

The Scrum methodology is based on regular iterations called sprints, lasting from 1 to 4 weeks. Each sprint follows a well-defined cycle:

  • Sprint Planning: the sprint begins with a meeting where the team plans the tasks to be carried out in order to reach the set objective.
  • Daily Scrum: every morning, the team meets briefly to review progress, current tasks and any obstacles.

Review and continuous improvement

At the end of each sprint, two key steps are taken to evaluate the work accomplished and improve the process:

  • Sprint Review: meeting with all stakeholders to discuss results and check whether the sprint objective has been achieved.
  • Sprint Retrospective: session reserved for the Scrum team and the Product Owner. It focuses on improving development processes for future sprints.

The Scrum method promotes agility, transparency and continuous improvement, while maintaining a regular, collaborative pace.
